  07.01.2003 Rauma Port traffic reaches all-time record
In 2002, port traffic totalled 5.7 million tons, showing an
increase of +6.1% over the previous year. The number of
containers shipped via Rauma in 2002 was 97 455 units (TEU),
or 16.5% more than in 2001.

The amount of goods carried in containers increased by 15.8%.
The use of containers in import traffic, in particularly,
showed a hefty increase of +23.4%, and the volume of
export traffic increased by +13.4%, as well.

With these figures the Port of Rauma set an all-time record in
both total traffic volume and in container traffic.

The total number of ships that visited the port in 2002 was
1 274 (+4.9%), with a total tonnage of 3.7 million net tons (+6.6%).

Of the total traffic, exports accounted for 4.1 million tons (+3.4%),
imports for 1.6 million tons (+13.8%) and domestic traffic
for 0.04 million tons. The most important export goods included
paper and board, chemicals, cereals and mixed general cargo.
As for imports, china clay, raw timber, general cargo and
chemicals were the dominant cargo types.
General cargo (+23.6%) and pulp (+21.3%) showed the greatest
increase in export traffic and raw timber (+70.2%) as well as
general cargo (+21.5%) in import traffic.

  11.09.2002 NEW EQUIPMENT IN RAUMA PORT

The Port of Rauma is now equipped with a second Gottwald HMK-300 mobile crane. The lifting capacity of the crane
is 100 tons. The Port of Rauma had acquired already earlier a Gottwald mobile crane, also a 100 ton lifting capacity.

The second crane will now make joint lifts of 200 tons possible
in all quay locations.
This will essentially improve our operating and service possibilities in the handling of various heavy loads.
